The Positron Shooter is the standard issue infantry weapon of the DOOP Army.
Use
The Positron Shooter is a particle weapon that, as the name suggests, fires beams of positrons. When fired, it emits pink rays of energy at subluminal speed. The Positron Shooter requires a lengthy reloading procedure by which the user must turn a 'jack-in-the-box' style hand-crank accompanied by music in the form of 'Pop goes the weasel'. Only when the tune stops is the weapon fully charged and can be used effectively. Attempting to fire a Positron Shooter that is not fully charged will result in the weapon emitting a flaccid ray of energy that falls limply to the ground immediately after exiting the barrel.
Despite these drawbacks, the Positron Shooter is quite powerful (when charged), easily capable of blowing a hole in the ground large enough for a soldier to wallow in.
Service History
The Positron Shooter was widely used by DOOP forces during the Battle of Spheron 1. Despite its apparent stopping power, the weapons time-consuming recharge procedure left the DOOP soldiers vulnerable to the Spheroids counter-attack. This is believed to have been a contributing factor to the heavy human casualties suffered in the battle.
